On July 20th, 1969, the world held its breath: three human beings were on their way to the moon for the very first time. At Flipboku, we love flip books but also we are passionate space enthusiasts, that's why we have created the Apollo 11 Flip Book Edition, as a tribute to the enormous achievement.
Apollo 11: Volume 1
The first volume of the Apollo 11 Flip Book Edition is based on original footage from the NASA archives, shot during the different stages of the mission. It shows the mythical Saturn V launch or the astronauts inside the Command Module, among others. Some sequences are edited in multicam shots to show the action synchronized from different angles. Through our Flipboku Augmented Reality App, you can see a 3D model of the Saturn V rocket as well as an animated recreation of the stage separation.
Apollo 11: Volume 2
Volume 2 has 6 more sequences depicting the moon landing from a more technical and informative point of view, whilst maintaining an artistic approach through the original concept art of NASA artist from 1966 turned into animations. They are some of the most important maneuvers performed by the astronauts, such as the stage separations and docking procedures and the lunar orbit insertion of the CSM-LM module. In addition, the docking procedure is featured as an animated 3D model in the AR App.
The flip book edition includes a powerful educational feature: when scanning the slipcases of each flipbook, the Flipboku Augmented Reality App allows you to observe the different spacecraft used during the mission.
In Volume 1, an animated model of the Saturn V rocket demonstrates its 3 different stages and the stage separation process, while in Volume 2 you can discover the Service and Command Module, docked to the Lunar Module, and the transposition and docking procedure. In addition, the double anniversary slipcase features an animated recreation of the Lunar Module in the last seconds of its landing, including the original audio of the mission. Each of these 3D models incorporates extra information, videos and technical specifications about each spacecraft.
As a complementary educational tool we have developed this deck of Commemorative Cards with more information about the entire Apollo Program.
It includes 70 neatly designed cards, representing three different categories: 32 astronauts of all the Apollo missions, 18 of the science experiments set up by the astronauts and 20 cards showing the vehicles and hardware that brought them there – and back to Earth.
Each of the illustrated cards includes basic information of the displayed subject, and also includes a QR code that takes you to the specific page on Wikipedia where you can find out even more about each of the many components of the Apollo Program.
The card deck also features a 360º animation of the Lunar Module while flipping the cards with your thumb. We can't help it! :)
