We are delighted to announce the first edition of our International Cinemagic Flipbook Competition, which we are organizing in collaboration with our friends from Weird Market, the leading international Animation, Video Games and New Media Market in Spain and one of the foremost in Europe.
If you are an animator, either student or professional, we invite you to participate by sending us your flipbook proposal in video format. The four winning projects will be carefully selected by our top-class jury, edited by us as a 6-in-1 flipbook and published in the Flipboku catalog in our ‘Artists’ Flipbooks’ section. You will find detailed specifications about formats, styles and prizes in the terms and conditions below.
As you may know, our 'cinemagic' flipbooks differ from normal flipbooks in that they include up to six different sequences in the same book, which you can trigger depending on the position of your thumb. This effect is not only visually stunning but also offers further opportunities in terms of storytelling and narration that we invite you to explore.
For this first edition, we are excited and honored to have an extraordinary international jury, all lovers of flipbooks and well-respected professionals in the animation world. A committee formed by members of Flipboku and Weird Market will be in charge of a process to pre-select the sequences in competition. These pre-selected works will then be evaluated by the jury.

Participation is open to animation professionals and students from all over the world. A registration form will be available where the participants' data will be requested and where the competition entry should be submitted. In the student category, information about the participant’s school must be provided together with a document confirming it.
Each flipbook consists of six different animated sequences of 40 frames each (240 frames in total). Participants must submit six 40-frame sequences, animated at 10 frames per second (4 seconds per sequence), meaning a total of 24 seconds of animation.
The six sequences must be sent in a single video, with 2 seconds of black at the beginning of each sequence, in H.264 format at 1920x1080 and an adequate compression quality. The total length of the video for the six sequences should be 36 seconds. Videos that do not meet these requirements will be disqualified.
Each flipbook is a small container of six sequences, so we invite participants to explore the storytelling possibilities with the format in mind. Animations with a narrative structured in six sequences will be accepted as well as six independent stories.
All types of animation technique will be accepted (3D, 2D, stop motion, pixilation etc).
A committee formed by members of Flipboku and Weird Market will be in charge of a process to pre-select the sequences in competition. These pre-selected works will be evaluated by the international jury.
